Pick-up basketball has a strong tradition here in the '733.  Thanks to partnerships with the Otter Valley Unified Union School District, the gymnasiums at The Neshobe School and Otter Valley Middle/High Schools have been made available for adults to play competitive pick-up basketball.  Good sportsmanship and great hoops await you.  To play, you must complete the free registration (insurance waiver) to sign-up for the game(s)  that work for you.

Have you always wanted to tap into your inner Robin Hood and work on your bow skills?  Thanks to seasoned Instructor Melinda Hardt, you can!Ages 8 and up can participate in a 4 week course at Neshobe School.Type of bow - Recurve (provided by instructor) or bring your ownEquipment (Provided)- Recurve Bows, Arrows w/Field tips, Targets.Program breakdown-Week 1- Introduction of equipment and range, rules and safety guidelines, basic form.Week 2- Review of Safety Rules, Stance and form work, gameWeek 3- Practice Shooting, individual tips and assessments, gameWeek 4- Practice Shooting, Balloon shoot.About the Instructor: Melinda Hardt has been instructing and designing Archery classes for youth since 2007. She started teaching the basics at an outdoor science school in California. She was trained by an Olympic level Archer, and obtained her level 1 Archery certification. She designed and orchestrated year-round archery classes and a continuing Summer Camp program as well. She went on to obtain a level 2 USA Archery certification and has taught Archery programs all over the country. She currently runs her own Archery business in Vermont providing amazing programming for youth in Rutland and Addison County.  She is also available for birthday parties, homeschool groups and more! Melinda Hardt is a certified level 2 USA Archery Trainer Instructor, certified in Wilderness First Aid, and CPR.*need based scholarships available upon request*

8 Years of playing at Seminary has proven that this basketball tournament has staying power!  We will be moving to an indoor venue (Otter Valley Union High School) to ensure optimal playing conditions.   This double elimination guarantees at least 2 games for your $5 buy-in.  How it works:MUST be at least 16 years of age at the time of registration.You register - this nominal fee will help offset costs for gym rental and any incidental expenses.   - MUST REGISTER BY July 11th, 6:00 PMThe draft will occur on Sunday, July 12th.  You will be notified by you captain that has selected you.The 2026 Tournament will be held on July 18th at OVUHS. First game starts at 9:00 am.  Please show up by 8:45 am.Rules/Guidelines: This is for fun!  We are not winning any NBA championships.  Don't be a jerk. Call your own fouls  - both defense and offense can call.  RESPECT THE CALL. Games will consist of two (2) six-minute halves with a 3 minute halftime. 30 second shot clock Two Timeouts per game. Th)July 20 - July 24 (Mo, Tu, We. Th)August 3 - August 7  (Mo, Tu, We. Th)Thanks to the The Union Lodge in Brandon of the Masons has graciously offered to sponsor swimming lessons for the 2026 season. Their donation will allow the Brandon Rec only charge $5 per participant for Brandon Residents! **Adjustments will post as credits that members can apply at check-out**Levels and times belowFamily/Tadpole & Frog Group: 12:15– 12:45 (limited to 10 participants)For preschoolers (ages 3-5) with a parent or other adult helper assisting in the water for each child. These “teams” participate in games and activities that teach basic skills like bubble blowing, alternating arm strokes, alternating kick and submerging. Children and parents learn to be safe around the water and children develop comfort in the water. There is no prerequisite.Jacobs Level I/Seahorse: 10:00 – 10:30 (limited to 8 participants)For young children (ages 5-7) and/or novices who are ready to begin swim instruction. These children are able to follow directions and work independently with an instructor in the water. Focus is on learning to enjoy and be safe in a water environment, developing comfort in the water, basic swim skills like bubble blowing, alternating arm strokes, flutter kicking and submerging. There is no prerequisite for participation in this level. (This is similar to Red Cross Level 1)Jacobs Level II/Turtle: 10:30 - 11:00 (limited to 10 participants)For swimmers who are able to follow directions and work independently with an instructor in the water and have developed comfort and basic skills in the water. These swimmers are already comfortable fully submerging, can blow bubbles and control their breathing and, with assistance, can float on both their fronts and backs. Focus is on learning to float without support, coordinating a swim stroke with breath control and development of propelling swim strokes. (Roughly equivalent to Red Cross Level 2)Jacobs Level III/Fish:  11:00 – 11:30 (limited to 10 participants)For swimmers who know how to safely enter and exit the water, can fully submerge and blow bubbles, float on front and back without assistance and swim short distances. Focus is on breath control and rhythmic breathing, rolling front to back and back to front, coordinating breathing with more effective crawl stroke, learning back crawl, dolphin kick, treading water and introduction of some basic safety skills. She started teaching the basics at an outdoor science school in California. She was trained by an Olympic level Archer, and obtained her level 1 Archery certification. She designed and orchestrated year-round archery classes and a continuing Summer Camp program as well. She went on to obtain a level 2 USA Archery certification and has taught Archery programs all over the country. She currently runs her own Archery business in Vermont providing amazing programming for youth in Rutland and Addison County.  She is also available for birthday parties, homeschool groups and more! The Brandon Recreation along with Otter Valley Union High School, have teamed up to give our area youth the opportunity to develop their sports skills in an instructive and developmentally appropriate forum.Future Otters will have the chance to work current Otter Valley coaches to hone their fundamentals while having fun and connecting with the current Varsity Otters!Clinic curriculum will focus on sport appropriate drills, workouts and games to help them become better athletes WHILE learning about respect, sportsmanship, responsibility, and the value of hard-work. Coaches will treat each player as if they were their own!

She started teaching the basics at an outdoor science school in California. She was trained by an Olympic level Archer, and obtained her level 1 Archery certification. She designed and orchestrated year-round archery classes and a continuing Summer Camp program as well. She went on to obtain a level 2 USA Archery certification and has taught Archery programs all over the country. She currently runs her own Archery business in Vermont providing amazing programming for youth in Rutland and Addison County.  She is also available for birthday parties, homeschool groups and more! Melinda Hardt is a certified level 2 USA Archery Trainer Instructor, certified in Wilderness First Aid, and CPR.*need based scholarships available upon request*

She's back! The  AMAZING instructor, Jake Jacobs, will be doing her thing for the 14th summer with Brandon Rec.ALL 2026 SESSIONS AT BRANDON INN POOLJuly 6 - July 10 (Mo, Tu, We. Th)July 20 - July 24 (Mo, Tu, We. Th)August 3 - August 7  (Mo, Tu, We. Th)Thanks to the The Union Lodge in Brandon of the Masons has graciously offered to sponsor swimming lessons for the 2026 season. Their donation will allow the Brandon Rec only charge $5 per participant for Brandon Residents! **Adjustments will post as credits that members can apply at check-out**Levels and times belowFamily/Tadpole & Frog Group: 12:15– 12:45 (limited to 10 participants)For preschoolers (ages 3-5) with a parent or other adult helper assisting in the water for each child. These “teams” participate in games and activities that teach basic skills like bubble blowing, alternating arm strokes, alternating kick and submerging. Children and parents learn to be safe around the water and children develop comfort in the water. There is no prerequisite.Jacobs Level I/Seahorse: 10:00 – 10:30 (limited to 8 participants)For young children (ages 5-7) and/or novices who are ready to begin swim instruction. These children are able to follow directions and work independently with an instructor in the water. Focus is on learning to enjoy and be safe in a water environment, developing comfort in the water, basic swim skills like bubble blowing, alternating arm strokes, flutter kicking and submerging. There is no prerequisite for participation in this level. (This is similar to Red Cross Level 1)Jacobs Level II/Turtle: 10:30 - 11:00 (limited to 10 participants)For swimmers who are able to follow directions and work independently with an instructor in the water and have developed comfort and basic skills in the water. These swimmers are already comfortable fully submerging, can blow bubbles and control their breathing and, with assistance, can float on both their fronts and backs. Focus is on learning to float without support, coordinating a swim stroke with breath control and development of propelling swim strokes. (Roughly equivalent to Red Cross Level 2)Jacobs Level III/Fish:  11:00 – 11:30 (limited to 10 participants)For swimmers who know how to safely enter and exit the water, can fully submerge and blow bubbles, float on front and back without assistance and swim short distances. Pick-up basketball has a strong tradition here in the '733.  Thanks to partnerships with the Otter Valley Unified Union School District, the gymnasiums at The Neshobe School and Otter Valley Middle/High Schools have been made available for adults to play competitive pick-up basketball.  Good sportsmanship and great hoops await you.  To play, you must complete the free registration (insurance waiver) to sign-up for the game(s)  that work for you.

When:   Monday Nights Where:  Estabrook Park  Time:    6:00pm Cost:     FREE! Want to get back on the field? Join for a fun adult pick-up soccer game. All skill levels are welcome and it's free to register and play!This is a low stakes, high fun way to get back into a sport you loved playing.  Great people and a beautiful venue!  Adult Soccer Commissioner, Jill Brooks, will help facilitate!Please note:  1st time players must complete registration online.  This is a once a year requirement that we need for insurance purposes.  Also, once you have registered, the soccer commissioner will be able to reach out in case of changes!
